how to heal stress london

Stress: Signs and Symptoms, Causes and Effects
Modern life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For many people, stress is so commonplace that it has become a way of life. Stress isn’t always bad. In small doses, it can help you perform under pressure and motivate you to do your best. But when you’re constantly running in emergency mode, your mind and body pay the price.
If you frequently find yourself feeling frazzled and overwhelmed, it’s time to take action to bring your nervous system back into balance. You can protect yourself by learning how to recognize the signs and symptoms of stress and taking steps to reduce its harmful effects.

CHEK Practitioner?
What is stress?

The Body’s Stress Response

The Body’s Stress ResponseWhen you perceive a threat, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones rouse the body for emergency action.
Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, breath quickens, and your senses become sharper. These physical changes increase your strength and stamina, speed your reaction time, and enhance your focus – preparing you to either fight or flee from the danger at hand.
Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way. When you sense danger – whether it’s real or imagined – the body's defenses kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic process known as the “fight-or-flight” reaction, or the stress response.
The stress response is the body’s way of protecting you. When working properly, it helps you stay focused, energetic, and alert. In emergency situations, stress can save your life – giving you extra strength to defend yourself, for example, or spurring you to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident.
The stress response also helps you rise to meet challenges. Stress is what keeps you on your toes during a presentation at work, sharpens your concentration when you’re attempting the game-winning free throw, or drives you to study for an exam when you'd rather be watching TV.
But beyond a certain point, stress stops being helpful and starts causing major damage to your health, your mood, your productivity, your relationships, and your quality of life.

How deal  with stress

do you feel low of have depression 5-HTP

do you feel low of have depression 5-HTP

5-HTP
What is it?
Tryptophan is an amino acid found in meat, peanuts and sesame seeds. The brain converts tryptophan into 5-HTP - a variation of tryptophan - which is then turned into serotonin, one of the 'happy' chemicals that helps control our appetite, mood and sleep patterns.
How does it work?
Tryptophan is absorbed into the brain more easily when there is also carbohydrate present. When we are feeling depressed we tend to crave starchy foods in an unconscious effort to absorb more tryptophan, boosting our serotonin levels.
Taking 5-HTP as a supplement can boost our serotonin levels naturally so you avoid the food cravings and hopefully avoid putting on weight.and get weight loss personal trainer london
Has it been proven?
A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that obese patients taking 5-HTP had significantly greater weight loss than a control group who were not taking the supplement. Their carbohydrate intake was also reduced, but this may have been
because they were following a diet for part of the study.
Although the study was successful, it may be difficult to re-create the results for yourself. 'The study may have used 'drug like' levels of 5-HTP which cannot be bought over the counter,' says Lyndel Costain.
Where can I get it?
5-HTP is available in larger high-street chemists and good health food shops. If you think you are suffering from depression, talk to your GP who can help you treat the condition.
PYRUVATE
What is it?
Pyruvate is a natural compound produced by the body that helps with metabolism. It is used to help convert sugar in the blood into glycogen, the fuel that muscles use during exercise.
How does it work?
The theory is that taking extra pyruvate will stimulate your metabolism which can help you lose weight. Although pyruvate is involved in energy production, experts are still unsure exactly how it works.
Has it been proven?
The University of Pittsburgh conducted a study ten years ago that found taking large doses of pyruvate could reduce body fat without the need to do any exercise.
Another study following obese women taking up to 100g of pyruvate every day also found they lost weight and put less weight back on when they stopped dieting.
However, these studies have been heavily criticised. Experts are concerned about the high doses of pyruvate being taken as they could have an effect on the balance of minerals and salts in the body, leading to stomach upsets and nausea.
Lyndel Costain, consultant nutritionist for the Medical Research Council, says, 'Pyruvate may be effective at high doses but there is little information to explain whether it has the same effect at lower doses.'
Brigid McKevith from the British Nutrition Foundation adds, 'More studies are needed to firmly establish any positive effect of taking pyruvate on weight loss in humans.'
Where can I get it?
Pyruvate supplements are available in health food shops, but check the level of pyruvate contained to avoid triggering a stomach upset. If you are worried, ask your doctor or a nutritionist for more advice.

An interview with scott

AN INTERVIEW WITH SCOTT BRYANT

Scott Bryant, often referred to as ‘The Body Mechanic’ is not like your ‘conventional’ personal trainer!

In creating a unique workout system that focuses on looking at every aspect of health and wellbeing, from what you eat, how you breathe and how the gut works, Scott Bryant is renowned through the world of celebrities and professional sportsmen and women for ‘achieving results’.

Trion Z catches up with The Body Mechanic to talk CHEK, nutrition, celebrities and magnetic therapy.

At what age did you become interested in holistic medicine, health and fitness?

I was 19 when I started to look in to it seriously. I did a lot of weight training and body building and lots of my friends were all looking for something new to get into which would keep them fit, health and looking great in a safe way. It was around this time that a friend told me about the CHEK system I was, at the time working as a doorman, and knew I didn’t want to be doing it for the rest of my life  becoming a CHEK practitioner seemed like the perfect choice for me.

You are an integrative, holistic CHEK Practitioner. Can you explain what exactly a CHEK Practitioner is?

CHEK practitioner is someone who cares deeply about health and wellness, inside and outside of the body. We have to train and study hard for about 6 years learning everything about the body, we go deeper than most personal trainers and look into everything from diet, lifestyle, metabolic type, posture, hormone imbalance, even gut worms! (Which, by the way, most people have and don’t even realise) We also look into the spiritual, mental and emotional side of the body, mapping out everything until we find out where the pain is coming from, so we can cure it.

In what ways is your approach to training and fitness goals, that incorporate various wellbeing elements, including diet, mental fitness, emotional control, posture and holistic therapy, more effective in achieving fitness goals than simply working out down the gym every day?

We treat everyone as individuals! Everyone is unique, feels different, looks different, IS different and one program that works for one, certainly won’t work for another. We ensure that all programs are tailor-made to each individual. When we take a client on, we care immensely about them and want them to achieve their goals as much as they do.

Many sports professionals and celebrities, such as Jennifer Lopez, are reported to be fans of your approach to weight loss and fitness goals. Why do you think your method is so appealing to sports professionals and celebrities?

Once a person looks into the CHEK system and starts a program, there’s absolutely no going back, your total outlook and lifestyle will change – for the best.

Also I think it’s because of the love and passion we show our clients and the support we give as well as our in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology, we look deeper into the body than most others. I always make sure my clients receive a 4 Hr body and movement assessment plus a 10 day holistic diet and lifestyle program. I think it also helps that we have taken years to train and continuously are working and studying to better ourselves.

We don’t promise that a celebrity or any client will change their bodies, lose fat etc. overnight however we do promise that they WILL change their lives forever by doing a CHEK program.

What does your day’s nutritional intake typically consist of?

I usually have breakfast at around 6am and I always eat meat – I don’t mean sausages and pre packed bacon which are filled with additives and flavourings etc.! I’m talking about steak, lamb chops, chicken breast etc.! I add good fat to the meal, like butter and always have veg, like broccoli or carrots!

I snack on an apple and nuts about 2 hours after breakfast. Nuts are amazing for the body and full of essential oils.

Lunch, I have meat again, but what kind, depends on breakfast. I ALWAYS stick to the same meat that I have had in the morning for lunch and dinner. So if I had lamb for breakfast, I’ll have lamb for lunch and dinner. Again I will eat more veg and good fats with the meal. Dinner will be a similar to lunch and breakfast.

I also snack on bananas and more nuts and for a treat I will have some raw, dark chocolate. It’s also essential to drink lots and lots of water.

And finally….Have you ever used, or would consider using, magnetic therapy as a means of overcoming injuries and medical conditions, as well as promoting wellbeing?

I haven’t used magnetic therapy, yet, however I would certainly be interested to see how it works and how it can help reduce pain etc. however, as with everything I use and recommend, I would have to research the science behind it first.

Fit for golf!
Every week hundreds of emails land in my inbox and I have to confess that most end up in the trash. But one particular email caught my attention last week and prompted me to follow up. The email started... "Did you know that 53% of Male and 45% of Female golfers suffer from lower back pain?"
It was a statistic that instantly struck a cord with me. Being a keen golfer I'm only too aware of the stress and strain I put my body under smashing the golf ball around the course a few times a week and I have to say that over the last few years I've been suffering with a terrible bad back. However like most golfers I do very little about it. I have a few warm up swings in the net, I try to avoid carrying my golf bag in favour of a trolley in the winter months, but that's about it. The thought of going to the gym and training on a treadmill like a hamster on a wheel has little appeal and as for weights I wouldn't know where to start to actually improve my physique to benefit my golf game.
Step in Scott Bryant - a personal trainer with a difference! Scott was once a doorman kicking out unruly pub goers but he knew he wasn't fulfilling his potential in life so he decided to change career paths 11 years ago and has overcome severe dyslexia to study at the C.H.E.K Institute - one of the leading authorities on golfing fitness and well-being in the world. Since then Scott has been known as 'the body mechanic' and is working hard to becoming one of the leading experts in the industry. What sets him apart from other golf trainers is that he doesn't just look at your physique but actually uses a holistic approach to improve your golf swing, looking at every aspect of your body as a whole before trying to improve it - what you eat, how you breathe, how the body functions and so on.
I met Scott at his gym in central London and he spent a few hours assessing my body function. The shocking truth was that nearly every muscle in my body had some kind of restriction and that's having a negative effect on both my golf game and my life. The encouraging part is hearing of Scott's other golfing clients who have arrived in equally poor physical condition and many much worse... "I had one lady golfer come to me a year ago because she had been told by her doctor that she'd have to give up golf because she had a nasty knee injury," explains Scott.
"They had operated several times unsuccessfully so I really was the last resort for her. But what the medic had failed to recognise that her physical restriction wasn't just the result of walking around the golf course every week, it was a combination of lots of factors in her lifestyle right from her eating habits and throughout her daily routine. After working together for 12 months she's not only playing the best golf of her life, she no longer has any knee pain now."
After spending just a few hours with Scott I was totally convinced that I should start to follow a golf conditioning programme. After all, I want to play golf pain-free even when I'm an old lady! So over the coming weeks I'll give you a brief insight into every aspect of my golf conditioning that Scott is working on. I know that this will require 100% commitment but I also know that the end result is that I'll be a fitter, healthier and happier golfer, so watch this space...
Week 1: The truth hurts!
A full physical assessment with Scott lasts four hours and is extremely thorough. It's not cheap (Scott charges £500 for the assessment) but as my golf coach husband tells me you get what you pay for - see this as an investment in yourself. During the assessment Scott examines every aspect of your body and lifestyle by asking thorough questions and getting you to undergo a whole range of physical assessments, everything from can you touch your toes to how well do you sleep at night! I was shocked at my lack of range of movement and the number of restrictions I had throughout my body.
Among the findings Scott discovered that I don't breathe properly - I'm a chest breather which basically means that I don't fill my lungs with air properly, and this is one of many contributing factors that could be causing my lower back pain. So my homework this week is to spend 20 minutes every night practising a deep breathing exercise and learning to breathe in deeply so that I fill my lungs up fully from the pit of my stomach upwards. I learn to do this by placing a water bottle on my belly button and making sure it rises as I breathe in.
The other task I have to do is fill in a food diary for the next 10 days so that Scott can analyse what my daily food and drink intake is. He'll then use this information to identify my metabolic type - what food groups such as Carbohydrates and Proteins my body requires to function effectively and he'll set me a suitable diet.
I left the assessment with mixed feelings - negativity towards my current physical condition but inspired that this is a logical process that I can follow with the end goal of achieving the body and the swing that I've always wanted. This is just the start of my golf conditioning process but already I'm feeling excited!
Over the coming weeks this is what my golf conditioning programme should do for me...
. Improve my flexibility - I'll be following a personalised stretching programme.
. Improve my postural alignment and endurance - essential for being able to set up correctly to the golf ball, make a good swing and play 18 holes of golf.
. Improve my game by reducing stiffness and pain in my muscles.
. Eliminate faults in my swing - my backswing turn in particular is restricted by tight muscles.
. Get strong, and be able to generate power - hit the ball further - yes please!
. Avoid injury and have more fun!
. Improve my swing and improve my scores.

Golf Conditioning london

Golf Conditioning london

Many personal trainers in London are not getting it right when it comes to conditioning for the game of golf, especially the swing. When training them for their game they do no assessment of the swing or drive.
Golf is a power sport. You need to get your core and posture assessed. Because of the load that goes onto the body, 98 % of golfers get back pain: from bad training in the gym; bad lifestyle; and no warm up when they start playing, apart from slow swings in preparation for hitting the ball.
The body needs to warm up properly for all shots. You can see that some of the world's best golfers are now looking in good shape, with Tiger Woods leading the way. When it comes to being lean and strong, he can only get this from the gym. But not by doing bench press and biceps curls - he would be doing dead lifts, cable pulls and lateral ball rolls.
Paul Chek is one of the best in the world for conditioning golfers. There is no other programme which works as well as his does, with over 150 asessments of the body, so that we can see what is going on in the golfer's body.
One of the best books about golf fitness is the Golf Biomechanics Manual which is the book which CHEK golf sport performance specialists need to study, which explains how to get a body fit for the game of golf.
As a CHEK practitioner level 3 Scott looks deep into how to get you out of pain. He guarantees that he will get your handicap down, make you back swing stronger and make you drive further than you ever did before. So if you are looking to take your game to a new level then Scott Bryant can help you!!!

Weight Loss London

Weight Loss London

Weight loss diets do not work because we need to eat when our bodies need food - not cut down on what we eat. If you eat the right foods for your body, your body will use it all up. But if you don't eat for your type then you may get fat, however little you eat.
Lots of us are stressed out and we eat late at night and we eat bad foods like sugar, cakes, pasta, bread and milk. We do not need any of this in our diet. When we look at animals they are not fat - they only eat what they are designed to eat (except our pets who easily get fat, because we feed them the wrong kind of food).
Animals go to bed when the sun goes down and get up when sun comes up. This is what we need to do if we want to lose weight. Weight Watchers does not work in the long run because you are cutting out food (especially fat). You see in the news that they look good but then they put it all back on and more.
It's the same if you stop exercising. Movement is good for us all. If you look at dogs and cats they never stop moving. They get up, go for a run and then rest and then they eat and then they rest, then they go for run, get love from their owner.
This is all we need: to eat for our type; get good rest; eat good food; and exercise 4 times a week (4 hours a week in total). If dogs and cats stop moving they get fat. If they eat the wrong food they get fat too. In nature animals live by the sun and moon and only eat food they should eat.
There are 1000's and 1000's of diet books out there. So which one is right? There are so many things we need to look at in life when it comes to food and diet. There is so much bad food which makes us fat. But if you only eat meat and veg you will see your body change over night. Do not eat anything that comes out of a packet - only eat fresh food as much as you can. We all know this. But there is so much bad stuff out there in the shops. We just need to be stong and stay away from it.
If we go back to to what we ate in the 1930's there was less sickness than there is now. Have a deep look and what your grandparents mums looked like. I bet they were not fat. We know now more about the body than we did 20 years ago but we are still over weight, sick and stressed out. All we have do is live like animals do: day by day, get out of bed on time; eat only good food; exercise regularly; rest well; and enjoy what we have now. Then we will be less stressed and leaner.
